Advanced Animal Diagnostics, Inc. Awarded USDA SBIR Phase I Grant

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 25, 2004—Advanced Animal Diagnostics (AAD) announced today that it has received a US Department of Agriculture grant towards the development of the “Inflammatory Cell Differential Counter”, a new tool to combat mastitis on-site. Mastitis, an infection of the milk-producing glands of dairy cows, results in annual productivity losses exceeding $5 billion worldwide. “We are thrilled that the USDA chose to help us in this venture”, said Rudy Rodriguez, AAD’s President.

Advanced Animal Diagnostics, Inc. is a privately funded company in the R&D stage and it was founded in 2001. Its mission is to engage in the research, development, and commercialization of integrated systems and solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of veterinary health problems. Its current research focus is the dairy industry, particularly improvements to the quality of the milk supply. AAD conducts all its research and development activities at the BD Technologies BioVenture Center incubator facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
